Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year and welcome to the Resource Room! I am looking forward to working with your child. It will be a challenging, exciting, and rewarding year.
This is a study skills class that is set up to accelerate student learning by using a series of intense, short term interventions. Small group instruction will be provided by myself and paraprofessionals. Based on individual's area of need, each student will be taught using any of the district wide proven strategies. We will work on staying organized, filling out planners, and catching up on work from your child's core classes.
Classroom expectations:
-Arrive to class on time with all appropriate materials
-Participate and try your best
-Use appropriate language
-Follow directions the first time given
-No gum, food, or drinks
Grades are based on the areas of:
-Attendance
-Behavior
-Participation
-Organization (including planner checks and completion of homework)
Students who follow the rules:
-Gain everyone's respect
-Are rewarded special privileges
-Receive random positive phone calls home
-Earn free time in class
Students who break the rules:
-Verbal warning
-Loose points toward grade
-Call home
-Lunch or after school detention (if after school, parent will be notified)
What can you do to help?
*Please come to Back to School Night on Thursday, September 20 th . Meet your child's teachers. Listen to their presentations and find out classroom expectations and procedures.
*Communication is important. If you have any questions, please contact me at 619-583-3233 x101.
*School attendance is virtually important. If you miss a day of school, your child must make up the work (even in P.E.)
*Make sure your child has a time and a place to do homework every day after school. Also, encourage your child to read 30 minutes daily.
*Your child needs the following supplies for the 2007-2008 school year:
Student Planner (provided by the school)
3 Ring-binder and notebook paper
5 Class dividers with tabs
Pencils/pens
High-lighters
Glue Stick
Plastic zipper pouch or small box to hold supplies
I am totally committed to your child's education. I look forward to meeting you soon!
Sincerely,
Sara Wildman
