As a young teenager living in San Diego, there are many opportunities for you to get involved in and give back to your community. Doing community service as a volunteer not only helps your community and those around you, but you benefit from your experience and unselfish giving to others. Volunteerism is essential to a civilized society.

Your Task:

Your task is to create a web page showcasing some of the many opportunities and organizations here in San Diego where teens such as yourself can volunteer in community service. You can do your research on the web, making sure the organizations are local (San Diego county).

Before you begin, visit and read through 20 Ways Teens can Help People by Volunteering, to get an understanding of what it means to volunteer and some types of community services that are available. The organizations here are not necessarily local, so you will need to search for local organizations.

Procedures:

• Create a folder called "Commservice"
• You may use either Claris HomePage or html to create your webpage.
• You should focus on a minimum of 7 different organizations/opportunities.
• For each, you need to give an outline of:
  • Name of the organization.
  • What the organization does.
  • What volunteer opportunities are available.
  • Who do they cater to.
  • Is this something a teenager could get involved in.
  • Is this opportunity located locally and where.
  • A link to the organization's website.
• Include pictures, where appropriate
• Create one page explaining why teens should volunteer; benefits to self and community.
• Use good webpage design techniques
