Directions For HyperStudio
State Presentation
- Open HyperStudio and save as "your
initials, United States" in your folder.
- For HyperStudio "Reminders and Tips"
look at the bottom of this page.
- Remember, you can go back and forth between
the Internet and HyperStudio by using the application menu
up in the top right corner. Drag this menu off so it is on your
screen. You don't need to quit each time.
- On card 1, pull down the "File" menu
and choose "Import Background." Choose "USA." The
map of the US will appear on your card 1.
- Go up to Edit and down to "Ready Made
Cards" and choose "State Card Template." Do this until
you have 11 cards.
- Move Back to Card #1
|
*Do each
card/state completely (steps 7-12) before moving on to
next. (if you don't finish, I
want to see the first few states
completed).
|
- Place a number on your first state you have
researched on the US map by adding a text item (size 14). Make
sure to select the proper background color.
- This map
will help you find where your state is if you don't know.
- Add an invisible button and outline this
state. On places to go, choose "Another Card" and with the
arrows, select the card you want it to go to. (choose
transition).
- For "things to do" choose "Play
Animation." Click on "Disk Library" and choose
"Addycar" Record the path of the car from one state to
another.
- Add a text item and type in the name of the
state using 36 pt. size. Add the other state information using 18
pt. Make sure your background colors have been choose
appropriately. Also make sure the text items are aligned
correctly. Another option is to make each text box wider, then use
the "T" tool to type in the state information within the same text
box.
- Make a new button called "Back to Map" to take
you back to card #1. (see Flow
Chart)
- Look at the
sample card to see what your card
should look like
- Once you have all of the state info and
backgrounds, add a state flag to each card going back to the
Internet, find your state, then click and hold on the flag and
choose "copy this image." Then go back to the card and
choose "paste." Place the flag where you want it. If a text
box is covering the flag, it may need to be resized.
Do the same thing for each of your 10 states.
*Do each card/state
completely before moving on to next.
(if you don't finish, I want to see the first few states
completed).
- Move back to card #1, Add another invisible
button over your next state, choose "another card" and use
the arrows to go to the next unused card and record your
animation.
- Once all information is filled in and the
buttons work appropriately, you may want to change background and
text colors, add some graphics (see below), etc.
- Make sure the background color of the text
items is the same as the card background color.
- Make sure all buttons work and take you to the
correct state card.
