Mr. Konarska

SurferMr. Konarska is a P.E. teacher here at Lewis. He also teaches the Java Programming course. Mr. Konarska graduated from SDSU in 1986 with a bachelors in Physical Education. In 1991, he obtained a masters degree from the National University in Educational Technologies. He has taught within the San Diego City School system since 1988. Mr. Konarska offers several opportunities for students to receive extra credit, or to make up things such as non-suits. Below you can learn more about these opportunities.

The student may write an one page report, double spaced on one of each of the following:

  • Name the four components of physical fitness, and how you could improve each component.
  • Plan a balanced diet for a day. Explain the four food groups and define: Protein, the two types of simple and complex carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, and minerals.
  • Define target heart rate. Calculate your individual target heart rate. Explain how you can improve your cardiovascular fitness using your target heart rate as a guide.
  • Explain the difference between muscular strength and muscular endurance. Write a weight lifting program to increase strength of the pectoralis muscle group.
  • Explain the difference between a static and ballistic stretching routine. Develop a stretching routine that would increase flexibility of your gastrocs.
