Hello and welcome to the Lewis Physical Education web site! Here you can learn more about our physical education program. P.E. teachers include Mr. Konarska, Mrs. Fleckner, Mr. Watkins, and Mr. Eiselman. You can access their e-mail them by clicking on their name. If you would like to go to Mr. Konarska's website, then please click here. The P.E. program at Lewis offers many different activities. These include Aerobics/dance, basketball, boomerball, soccer, Lewis fun runs, flag football, indoor volleyball, over the line, racquetball, physical fitness, pickleball, relay races, frisbee golf, team handball, speed-a-way, tennis, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, volleytennis, golf (practice), and softball. There is no guarantee that all of these activities will be done throughout the course of a year. If you are interested in seeing what a student is REQUIRED to have, then please refer to the list at the bottom of the page. The grading system used by the P.E. program at Lewis is based upon regular attendance, daily participation, effort and a positive attitude rather than pure athletic ability and competition. Therefore, all students, regardless of skill have the opportunity to earn a "B" grade or higher in P.E. The table below shows the grading scale. Students start out with a perfect grade at the beginning of the year. They then get 100 points per six weeks. If they are not dressed up or are not participating, then they are subject to lose points. Their grade is then decided based upon the table below.
The school has areas for playing basketball, football, soccer, running, baseball, softball, tennis, and various other variations of these sports. Tournaments are often held giving the students a chance to have fun and get in shape at the same time. Every Thursday, students run either the mile or a run almost equivalent to it. During rainy days alternate activities commence.
