New Hours for Lewis Middle School in 2008/2009

The San Diego Unified School District has just released the bell schedule for the 2008-2009 school year. Many district schools, including the middle schools within the Henry Cluster, will have a later starting time beginning on September 2, 2008. Lewis Middle School's new school hours will be from 9:05 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. Our Primetime Extended Day Program (formerly known as Six to Six) will continue to provide quality childcare for participating students before and after school. Applications to participate in Primetime are available in our front office.

Our school district is looking hard at many of our routine practices in search of ways to reduce costs. The district has developed a new transportation schedule that will save almost 3 million dollars next year. This new schedule is built around the idea that it is cost effective to schedule most busses to do three morning routes and three afternoon routes. In general, most district high schools will open between 7:15 and 7:30, most elementary schools will continue with their current hours and most middle schools will open between 8:45 and 9:15.

Your support and encouragement during this time of district budget analysis has been appreciated by the entire Lewis faculty, staff, and administration. By working together, our students will continue to thrive and grow at Lewis Middle School.

For your convenience, we have provided the following
