
Connie Milam's P.E. Course Syllabus--7th and 8th
P.E. uniforms may be purchased in the financial office for $8 each. Locks are $4. Clean, used uniforms and used locks are available in the P.E. ofice for $2 each. Sweatshirts may be worn on cold days over the P.E. shirt. No jackets are allowed. Sweatpants are optional. In accordance with the Lewis Honesty Policy, there will be no loaning or borrowing of P.E. clothes, substitute clothes, sweats, locks or baskets. Cothes which are worn to school may never be worn under, over, or instead of the required uniform. In order to protect our students' belongings, the P.E. department will stencil/engrave names on gym clothes and locks. Students are responsible for taking their P.E. uniform home on Friday, washing it, and bringing it clean on Monday.
Students will begin each grading period with a "G" grade in citizenship. In order to earn an "E" gade, students will need to make extra efforts. These include: Always being dressed, vigorous participation daily, turning in homework early, exhibiting good social skills and encouragng others, exemplary attiude and effort, and helping with equipment. Grades will be lowered for: Not following class rules, defiance, foul language, gum, unsportsmanlike behavior and arguing with other students or teachers.
Students begin the first grading period with 100 points, or an "A" grade. 100 points are added each six weeks for a cumlative semester grade.

Students will be graded on the following:
Responsibility--Dressing in a proper uniform, attending class, being on time, turning in assigments.

Responsibility--
Non-suits=-5
1/2 suits= -3 (Not wearing a portion of the uniform--shorts or shirt)
Substitute clothes=-1 each item
Truancy or uncleared absences=-5
Absence or medical excuse=-5 These points can be made up by turning in homework assignments that will be due one each grading period. Medical excuses must be in the form of a signed note from a parent and is limited to 3 consecutive days. Medical excuses longer than 3 days require a note from a doctor or the school nurse.
Tardy to roll call=-3
Not turning in assignments=-15 Many of the P.E. standards and literacy requirements will be met through homework assigned each grading period. Students will gain knowledge through research and have written assignments which are required for portfolio entries. Students will not receive an "A" grade without turning in their homework assignment each grading period.
Participation and Effort--1-5 Points
-1 Participating most of the time, not on task entire period
-2 Participating about half of the period
-3 Participating partially, needs more effort
-4 Participating minimally, more effort needed
-5 No participation
Meeting Standards--1-5 Points
Depending on degree of accomplishment
Students with special needs will be given acommodations. Please see teacher for special arrangements.
