HONOR BAND AND ORCHESTRA INFORMATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Middle School Honor Band/Orchestra is for 6-8th graders. Elementary Honor Band/Orchestra is for 5-6th graders. That means 6th graders may audition for both groups. I recommend they concentrate on the Elementary group due to the extreme difficulty in being selected for the middle school group.
First, click on your instrument. You will find all the information regarding the honor group, a scale sheet for your instrument and the audition piece. Print that out and start practicing.
Second, you need to click on the "Honor Band/Orchestra Application". Fill it out and take it with you to the audition on Feb. 4.
Lastly, if you want to be assigned a time to audition on Feb. 4 so that you are not standing around for hours in the cold, click on the "Audition Request". Fill out the form and submit it. Mr. Prout will will have all the audition times of Lewis Students by Feb. 1 and relay that information to those students.
12/8/09 Allied Gardens Holiday Festival featuring the Jazz Band and Concert Band is this Friday! Call Time for both groups is 6:30. Concert starts at 7:00 pm. Dress is Tuxedos and Dresses. Jazz Band may wear Santa Hats. UPDATE Nov. 12, 2009 Intermediate Band (per. 7 A Day) Use the link to listen to a portion of "Furioso" and all of "Jingle Bones". String Orchestra and Concert Band Tour will be April 15-17, 2010. Students will take home the payment schedule for the trip on Friday, Oct. 23. Or you can download by clicking on "For Parents". The form is under "files".
UPDATE: June 27, 2009 IMPORTANT INFO FOR INCOMING PATRICK HENRY STUDENTS!!! If you have promoted from Lewis Middle School and are going to Patrick Henry next year, there is a NEW registration process for marching band. You must attend one of three registration meeting during the month of July. UPDATE: June 9, 2009 Please keep checking back over the summer as our music web page goes through some major renovations. As this school year comes to a close, I'm spending a lot of the days reflecting on the year. We always aim high, and it’s rewarding to look back at so many great things that were accomplished since last September. To all the students leaving us for high school, thank you for a wonderful year, you will be greatly missed. To the returning 7th and 8th graders, enjoy your summer, there are great things being planned for you next year. May I extend an early welcome to our incoming 6th grade students and their families, I can't wait to meet you in September! As for me, I'm off to go load more music onto that cool iPod that somehow found its way into my undeserving hands.... Thank you! Josh Prout
