Purpose
The Foundation's purpose is to promote a spirit of academic, athletic and personal excellence, and the continued improvement of the Lewis Middle School campus. The Foundation is committed to the development of our young people who will be a credit to themselves and their community. We are a non profit organization - ID# 90-0113360.

Meetings

Foundation meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month in room 105, from 6:00-7:30 pm.

Activities and Events
The Lewis Foundation provides the following to our students and families:
- Welcome Back BBQ for all families in September
- 6th grade field trip to Mission Trails Park for education on local history and nature
- 7th grade field trip to Birch Aquarium for ocean science and conservation education
- 8th grade dance to celebrate promotion to high school
- annual school planners for all students (in partnership with the ASB)
- mini grants to teachers for classroom supplies and educational materials
- Educational assemblies such as the StarLab, San Diego Opera, Science Laser Show, "Mad Money" (financial literacy) and more
- Website development and maintenance (in partnership with the School)

We raise the funds to provide these important activities through:
- annual membership drive 
- gift wrap fund raiser
- annual event
- Laps for Lewis fitness fund raiser
- fund raising nights at local restaurants
- 8th grade promotion flower sales
- Albertson's Community Partners program

NOTE: in support of the school district's Wellness Policy and health curriculum, the Foundation does not promote the sale of non-nutritious foods to raise funds. We offer healthy food and beverage choices and physical activity opportunities at our events and meetings.
