Lewis serves approximately 1,100 wonderful students in the peaceful Allied Garden Area in the heart of San Diego.
Our mission at Lewis is to prepare all students both academically and socially for high school and beyond. Professional development through teacher collaboration and planning is a vital part of our daily work and has created some exciting results for our students. Last year Lewis was one of the few middle schools in Southern California to meet all instructional targets from the No Child Left Behind federal mandate. For detailed information on our school and others please visit: http://www.ed-data.k12.ca.us.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of community service through excellence in education here at Lewis. We will be celebrating our 50th birthday with students, families and friends throughout the year. Our Foundation will also be throwing the second annual, and now famous, "Louie's Lounge" party for all of our grown up families and friends. Do you know an alumni of Lewis? If so, please tell them to mark the calendar for the evening of May 22nd and stay tuned for details.
Speaking of our Foundation, have you joined yet? Many of us may be too busy to spend a lot of time at the school but we can help out by joining and financially supporting the efforts of those who can. Please look under the Foundation tab on our webpage information regarding Cash for Computers and for other ways to help.
In addition to after school care called, Prime Time, we excited to now offer after school fee based clubs such as babysitting, tennis and art. Applications are available on line and in our office.
Finally, please take the time to browse our new and improved webpage at www.lewis.edu for more detailed information and please email us with suggestions for improvement.
In appreciation of your support,
Brad Callahan
Principal
