Greetings Lewis family and friends,

 

I’ve got some good news and some bad news.

 

Let’s start with the good. Despite California’s grim budget, we are pleased to announce, at the time of this writing, that all classes, including electives, should be in place next year. Teacher layoffs should not occur and our office should be fully staffed with full time health coverage. Tough district-wide decisions regarding, personnel and program cuts have made this possible during such challenging times. We are grateful for the financial support of our mighty Lewis Foundation and the added boost of almost $113,000.00 from Federal, Title One funding.

 

The bad news of course is that we will barely have enough money to keep our school afloat. If we tighten our belts and conserve every resource we should have just enough to make it through the year.

 

What can you do to help? Please make sure your child comes to school every day. Each empty seat in a classroom not only costs learning, it also costs our school badly needed revenue. Now is the time, more than ever, that we need your assistance in any way you can. Please don’t hesitate to volunteer by calling 619-583-3233 or e-mail me at bcallahan@sandi.net. I can’t make promises about our economy’s future but I can promise you this:

The time you give to your child’s education is always time well spent.
